Updates & Resources regarding COVID-19

Before You Arrive

  • Make sure to have your mask as this is a requirement to enter the library.
  • ​There is limited space/computers available due to social distancing requirements which means you may have to wait to use the library. Because of this, computer time is now limited to 30 minutes. Our max capacity at this time is five (5) people. 
  • Below is our complete Patron Guidelines which can be amended or changed at any time without notice. The library reserves the right to change hours, cancel appointments, refuse service, and close the library to the public.  
  • The Library will always try to work with its patrons to ensure everyone has access to the library. If you need special accommodations, please give us a call and we will try to accommodate as best we can.

Curb-Side Services - By Appointment Only

We are currently offering curb-side services by appointment only, which include print/fax/copy services as well as reserving and picking up books & DVDs. 

Curbside Pick-up - Fax/Copy/Print & Reserve Materials
  • Appointments available on Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. 
  • Please remain in your car at all times
  • Please call to schedule an appointment before arriving and give us a call when you arrive. 

Want a book or DVD?
Go to our catalog, newark.biblionix.com, and login to your account. Once logged in place the item you are requesting on reserve.  When an item is reserved and available, it should be ready for pick-up any time before 4:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Staff will give you a call when your item is available to come pickup. If you wish to pickup your reserved item through curb-side pickup, you must make an appointment as outlined above. 

To login to your account, enter your library card # in the top spot and leave the password spot empty. Contact us via phone or email to retrieve or replace lost Library card numbers.

Please return all materials in our Dropbox located right outside the front door.

Patron Guidelines 

  1. Only five (5) patrons will be allowed inside the library at one time.
    1. Only two (2) patrons at one time may use the public use computers.
    2. Patrons waiting to use in house services must wait in their cars or outside away from the front door. 
  2. Patrons must wear a mask, correctly, while inside the library. ​
  3. Only two (2) public use computers will be available for use. 
    1. There is a time limit of 30 minutes for computer usage. 
      1. If no one is waiting to use a computer, the time limit can be increased by another 30 minutes, for a max total of one (1) hour on the computer per patron per day. 
  4. Patrons must schedule an appointment to use curb-side services.
  5. No eating or drinking inside the library. 
  6. Please do not touch books/DVDs excessively to diminish the potential spread of COVID-19. 
  7. Areas that are marked closed off are closed to the public. These include, but are not limited to, the couch, marked chairs, children’s computer, the restroom, and marked computers. 
  8. Children three and under can accompany adults into the library but they must remain with the parent/guardian at all times. Patrons can be asked to leave if their children do not stay with them. 
  9. We respectfully request that family units larger than three (3) send one person in for in house library services. 
  10. At any time, the Newark Public Library reserves the rights to change hours, cancel appointments, refuse service, amend these guidelines, and close the library to the public.​

Patrons can be asked to leave at any time if they do not follow the above posted guidelines
